The Whirlwind Model W214 is designed to operate at speeds of up to 90 cuts per minute. Each cycle is cushioned by a heavy-duty shock absorber for smooth operation at high speeds. Cycle speed can be adjusted with a screwdriver. Many of our customers have said they replaced 2 radial arm saws with 1 Whirlwind for cut-off use!
The Whirlwind Model W214 is an undercut style saw. That means the blade remains in the heavy steel base until the cut is made. Material is securely clamped throughout the cutting cycle by the cast aluminum guard/clamp. This prevents dangerous kick-back so commonly seen on radial arm saws. The base and guard/clamp also protect the operator from debris and broken carbide tips. Our saws all have a cast iron table top with a recessed area. The raised lip between the recess and the blade area acts as a barrier. An operator's hands should never leave the recessed area while the saw is in operation. Other safety features that are standard equipment on Whirlwind saws include our patented "Work Presence Sensor", an air hose with blowgun, low voltage controls and a lock-out valve for the incoming airline. Chips and sawdust should be cleared using the blow gun.
Whirlwind saws are famous for their accuracy. The blade is supported by a heavy chromemoly spindle in a massive steel spindle housing. Bearing mounts are widely spaced for stability. This design gives precise cuts even after years of use. Whirlwind saws are manufactured using state of the art technology for accuracy and interchangeability of parts. So you get the quality you deserve, we run each and every saw for 4-5 hours prior to a comprehensive quality checkout.
Cabinet companies, R.V. manufacturers, furniture, dimension, and other woodworking plants. Whirlwind saws are also widely used for cutting aluminum, brass, copper and plastics. Precise, high quality cuts on many diverse materials is easy on a Whirlwind cut-off saw.
Many large, well-respected firms now specify Whirlwind cut-off saws for cutting aluminum, brass, copper and plastics. After all, Whirlwind "wrote the book on cut-off saws."
